Q. So Christmas is coming up and my father just loves reading. I MEAN LOVES! He works all day (as a construction worker for a cable compant. digging holes, raising poles, ect) and when he comes home in the evening he just likes to escape into a good book. So this year for christmas, i thought i would make it the best christmas. :) i want to get him a kindle! It will be easier for him to buy a book (rather than going to a bookstore. saving time ya know?) with the amazon kindle store, and instead of having that big old packed out book shelf he could have all his books onto one device! I will even throw in a nice case :)! So I got with my 20 year old bro (im 14) and we agreed we would go half and half on paying for this kindle. The problem is we can't decide on the right kindle. We narrowed it down to the Kindle (basic 70 dollar one) or the Kindle Keyboard!!! One problem stopping us from the regular kindle is that it looks cheap... I'm serious it looks like one of those toys you get from the walmart section. But that's not the main problem. Another problem is that the kindle keyboard has a higher reputation and the regular kindle has less memory. 1,000 books sounds like enough but the Kindle keyboard looks better plus it has keys. With my father, I do not know if he would use the keys. I would be guessing the way they sort the books out you could search for a certain title. PLus take notes and such. Which is faster? which one would i get the bang for the buck?
A. Review on Kindle keyboard 3g, should help you out on this Decision:

The Basic Kindle is best for an entry level in eBook readers. While Kindle Keyboard 3g is the best model in Kindle Family which has free 3g web browsing and Facebook and twitter integration. You can use internet everywhere without paying any fee for it.
So it basically depends on you on which one you wanna give him.
If he is out of reach of Wifi almost everytime then I would recommend you to give him the 3g version of Kindle.. Which Kindle keyboard does offers.
The Keyboard on the other hand is for the purpose of typing.
What should i buy (Kindle Keyboard or the Kindle for 79$)?
Q. Hey Guys I wanted to ask what should i buy the kindle for 79$ or the kindle Keyboard 3g.
Which one is worth the money , which one is better.
A. The basic kindle is just as good as the keyboard kindle for reading ebooks.. so it's a steal for $79.
The big thing that makes the keyboard kindle worth the extra money is that you can browse the web for free anywhere over the free 3g (for no monthly fees), vs just wifi hotspots on the basic kindle.
You can get a good deal and reads reviews on the basic kindle here:

Or the keyboard kindle here:

The browser on the e-ink kindles is great for news/blogs/email and basic facebook. You can even use it to chat via m.ebuddy.com.
Personally I would opt for the keyboard kindle since I love the web, but it depends on you if you will use it.
I use mine all the time when traveling or in waiting rooms to read news and my email.
Which is better kindle touch or keyboard?
Q. Just curious because I really want a kindle but I can't decide which one I want! Thanks!
A. The Kindle product line now involves the following four key choices:
(1) E Ink vs LCD display
Choose E Ink (Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard) if long-run reading is your priority; choose LCD (Kindle Fire) if apps/games/video/web-browsing is your priority. E Ink displays ebooks just like paper-based ebooks, using ambient light; LCD displays ebooks just like computer monitors, using back lighting. On the other hand, E Ink is only black-and-white and is too slow for video. LCD does great with those non-reading applications. Further, Kindle Fire has a sophisticated web browser, Silk, which leverages local and cloud storage and processing dynamically, thereby providing high-performance web browsing.
(2) Five-way controller vs multi-touch vs keyboard
Choose 5-way to save money (base Kindle is only $79); choose multi-touch (Kindle Touch) for easy-of-use; choose keyboard (Kindle Keyboard) for ease-of-typing.
(3) WiFi vs WiFi+3G
Choose WiFi+3G if you wish to download ebooks or browse the web when away from a WiFi hotspot. An ereader with 3G support will be able to connect like a cell phone. Unlike a cell phone, however, there is no monthly fee for Kindle's 3G service. Note, though, that the web browser on Kindle isn't so great. Also, once an ebook is downloaded, neither WiFi nor 3G is needed to read it.
(4) With Special Offers vs Without Special Offers
Choose the lower-cost Kindles With Special Offers (KSO) to save money unless you have a philosphical problem with even non-obtrusive ads:
KSO Pros:
* $25 (WiFi) or $50 (3G) less expensive.
* May save more if special offers turn out to be useful to you.
* Ads do not show up in the middle of reading an ebook.
* I've heard only praise from those who buy Kindle WSO.
KSO Cons:
* May just dislike ads in principle, even outside of reading experience.
