Can a Samsung Galaxy s4 be unlocked to work on Cspire?

Q. I'd like to buy a Samsung Galaxy s4 but due to complications in my data plan, I can't buy a phone from Cspire. I have to buy it used from Ebay, Craigslist, etc. I'm a big computer nerd so if it can be done I can probably figure it out, but I'm inexperienced in the realm of cell phone unlocking. Thanks in advance! :)

A. C Spire is CDMA network
The Samsung S IV is only available so far for Verizon model SGH-I545.

CDMA phones are not unlocked as there is no lock.
Locking is only on GSM HANDSETS which have sim cards, a locked handset will only accept a simcard which is the same as the network it was ORIGINALLY supplied to.
The sim card in a GSM phone is the most important component the handset itself...... dressing. The simcard is what connects to the network.

CDMA handsets require activation by the network so they can be used ON the network, there is no lock
So if a network activated a handset it could be used. I believe that C Spire would not or could not activate s Verizon handset. If that is the case You could not use it.

Finally CDMA handsets get bad ESN. GSM uses BLOCKING whereby if the handset IMEI is registered on a database as reported lost or stolen it has the same effect as a bad ESN, the phone cannot be used on any network.

A sim card is essentially a phone number which the network controls add to that the handset IMEI, so you can use any unlocked handset on any network, all you need is to that is to have a pre pay sim card. If the handset IMEI is reported lost or stolen and appears on that "database" it can't be used ever on any network and you may have a valid simcard but NO handset to use

Original Question

How do I unlock my samsung galaxy prevail?
Q.

A. The Samsung Prevail can not be unlocked, for use with any other network or service provider ... other than Boost Mobile.

Because it is from a prepaid phone provider and network (Boost), it was designed and programed to be incompatible with other networks.

When you take one of these to an unlocking expert (or any prepaid phone, such as NET10, Tracfone, Virgin Mobile) ... they will be able to "unlock", up to a point ... but hit a dead end at the Enterprise Level of firmware and coding.

This also means that the Prevail can not be used on the Sprint network, even though it is a CDMA phone, and essentially piggy-backs off of their network.

This answer applies to all Boost Mobile phones, and all those in the Virgin Mobile network as well.
