A. Gorilla glass can break also. Always take precautions and put that screen protector on. It is not so expensive that should make you think twice. Extra precautions is always good.

A. the screen is already waterproof, its the rest of the body, and the space between the screen & the body that is NOT waterproof
I would say a scratchproof one would be more useful.
