Is the iPad 3 really coming out this year?

Q. Or should I just get the iPad 2

A. The iPad 3 will not be released for AT LEAST one more year. Apple would stand to lose a lot of money if they released two iterations of the same product within a fiscal period.
Personally, I am going to wait for the iPad 3 to be released, even if it takes two years, because the imaginable upgrades would far outweigh the upgrades that are present in the iPad 2.
If you must have an iPad within the year, then you will have to buy the iPad 2, if not I suggest you wait.
Good Luck

Original Question

does the ipad 3 make a good e-book?
Q. i read a lot of books and i was thinking about purchasing a kindle fire, just because it's cheap and i was going to use it solely for reading books. but now i'm thinking, maybe i'm only telling myself i'll get a kindle fire for books, just because i'm not familiar with the other cool features that an ipad 3 might have (streaming movies, watching netflix, downloading music...) so i'm asking, does the ipad 3 make a good e-book? yes, i'll originally get it for the books, but the other features on it sounds pretty cool too. but the main breaking point for me is if it's a good e-book. i've heard different complaints and i want to hear more opinions. the first thing i heard was that 1. the brightness of the screen hurts people's eyes over time--- couldn't i just adjust the brightness of the screen that best fits my surroundings? 2. i can't read the book in direct sunshine because of the glare of the screen--- true, i know there will be glares, but if i just get one of those anti-glare protector screens for the ipad 3, couldn't that help reduce the glare dramatically (maybe not completely, but enough so that it's not annoying)?. 3. the weight of the ipad doesn't make it a good e-book--- that i'm not completely sure of. i haven't held an ipad for hours on end, so i'm not sure what to make of that. so if you guys could just give me your opinions on the ipad 3, let me know! oh and please don't include your reasons on not getting an ipad due to the price. i'm willing to invest in an ipad if it meant being a good e-book, plus getting the cool features on it too. thanks!

A. The iPad is a great device. But it's not a good choice for reading.

The iPad and the Kindle Fire both have LCD screens and are not good for long term reading. They're great for games and video, but not reading. If you want something specifically for ebooks, you'll want an e-ink device. This means the Kindles (except the Fire), the Sony Reader or the Nook Simple Touch.

The problem is that there's a back light on LCDs. Turning the screen brightness down doesn't help because that leads to decreased contrast, so your eyes have to work harder to compensate. E-ink devices don't have back lights, and the font tends to be much crisper, closer to the printed page. As for glare protectors for the iPad, they can only do so much. I have one on my iPod Touch and it's still almost impossible to see in bright sunlight. The weight of the iPad is a problem for reading books. It doesn't seem like much, but ut does take two hands to hold and turning the pages is uncomfortable. The smaller Kindles etc are much easier as far as page turns and weight.

I have both a Kindle 3 and an iPad. I love both. I use the iPad for gaming, playing videos, and reading comics and magazines and books with color illustrations/photos. But my real reading is done of the Kindle.

Original Question

Should i get a iPad 2 or a iPad 3 ?
Q. I am wondering if I should pay the extra $100 for a iPad 3.
I need it to..
- play games
- search the web
- watch videos
- a nice camera for facetime / film-making

are those things worth spending the extra 100, and enjoy these better ? Thanks !
or even get a refurbished iPad 2 instead.
The camera isn't all that important, i just need one to work pretty nicely.
so i think i am going to get the iPad 2 and save the 100 on maybe some accessories

A. I have an iPad 3 and it works pretty well. I think that you should get the iPad 3 only since there may well be an iPad 4 coming out sometime. In my opinion, I enjoy more recent technology. There are also many things as you listed that the iPad 3 has that the iPad 2 doesn't. But if you are to get the iPad 2, I definitely suggest a refurbished one. Hope I helped.
