Samsung S3 OR galaxy nexus ?

Q. I know S3 is newer better but I want to know if the galaxy nexus can be updated forever since I saw some ppl said so and S3 cant be updated forever.

A. NO!!! Don't get the Galaxy SIII without thinking about if first. Though it is slightly better than the Galaxy Nexus in specifications overall, there are a few things that give the Galaxy Nexus an advantage over the S3. First of all, the Galaxy Nexus beats the SIII in price by about 250 dollars minimum. Also, the physical home button screams ripoff on Apple and the choice of color may not seem right to many people. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy SIII will come with annoying pre-installed apps that can't be removed that depends on the carrier you select. The Galaxy Nexus bought from Google Play is pure Google with no trace of bloatware. Finally, the Galaxy Nexus is planned to be one of the first devices to receive an update for Jellybean, the next version of Android. To summarize, the Galaxy SIII is the better choice if you want better specifications, but if you buy it, just remember that you'll be dealing with bloatware while us Galaxy Nexus owners will be enjoying our update.

If you want the unlocked Galaxy Nexus, you can buy it for 399 dollars from Google Play with this link: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=buy%20galaxy%20nexus%20from%20google&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CHkQFjAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fplay.google.com%2Fstore%2Fdevices%2Fdetails%2FGalaxy_Nexus_HSPA%3Fid%3Dgalaxy_nexus_hspa%26hl%3Den&ei=qCjoT-CCOomqrAf0q4iLCQ&usg=AFQjCNGAHXZDexjGQpZD2XLCj2bR_X_Mnw

Verizon Samsung Galaxy Stellar Vs Galaxy Nexus?
Q. Okay, so this will be my first smartphone. I'm 16 years old and will be paying for the initial price (50$ for Nexus or FREE for Stellar) plus the upgrade fee ($30) and giving $10 a month to my dad for the extra data. I have money from my summer job plus I do odd jobs for extra cash. I am sorta lost on which one to buy since they both sort of seem like the same. The Nexus however is a bit more appealing due to the better camera, updated OS, and scratch-resistant screen. Please do not say "get an iPhone" as I can't afford $200+ for a phone alone. I am in need of a phone ASAP because my basic feature phone that is three years old is on its last legs. Which phone is better and why? Ten points to best answer!

PS- I will be getting bare minimum for data (I believe 1 gigabyte), do both phones have wifi, and if you use wifi instead of 4G is it free? Lol first smartphone.

-Tyde

A. Hey Tyde, welcome to the smartphone world! I would advise getting the Nexus for multiple reasons. First, the camera is definitely better. From what I saw on CNET, the stellar doesn't even ave a flash. While the Nexus doesn't have the top of the line camera it is at least serviceable for most uses.

Second, the nexus runs stock Android. On pretty much any android phone not named nexus, the manufacturer and carrier add other apps and "features" on top of what they get from Google. For the most part, these do not add anything fruitful and in most cases hinder the user experience. It's kind of like when you get a computer from hp or dell and you get all this software on it you never asked for or wanted.

There are great benefits to this. The biggest one is getting android updates quicker. Even the Verizon version, which is updated 8-10 weeks after the AT&T/t-mobile one, got androids newest version, 4.1 jelly bean, ahead of any other android device. Also, if you decide you want to tinker around with it down the road, a ton of developers work off of the nes and give users easy ways to root the device. However, as you are new to smartphones, I would advise agains rooting for awhile.

Finally, you asked about wifi. They both ave wifi, and yes, when you are connected to wifi, it will not be using your data. Also, connecting via wifi will also save your battery. Hope this helps!

Samsung galaxy S3 or Nexus?
Q. Hello,
I've been thinking about replacing my blackberry with a new phone, and decided to go with the android platform. I found 2 phones I like, the samsung galaxy SIII and the samsung galaxy nexus.
I researched them and found that the nexus gets the os updates faster as it relies on pure android 4.1 rather than TouchWiz.

But I still don't know which one I should get, as they both look like nice phones, and there are pros and cons to both! So does anyone know which ones better from experience or similar, as they're both quite expensive and I don't want to get it wrong?

Thanks in advance

A. Overall, the Galaxy S III would be considered better. However, the main cons are as you said, not stock Android. The other con I would give it is how fragile it is compared to other Android phones (despite it being Samsung's first smartphone as of late with premium materials). But with pros, it's faster, it's got a larger and better screen, TouchWiz also gives it extra functions over stock Android. It has more storage and you can add an SD card and that's a very good thing. The battery life is also the best on an Android phone.

Now, the main pros of the Galaxy Nexus is the better design, durability (compared to the S III, it's a lot more durable) and runs on stock Android and gets updates quicker. However, the main cons would be what it's missing when compared to the S III. My because complaint about this phone is the lack of mass storage mode for data transferring from a computer. It relies on MTP which is slower and you can't view hidden folders this way. Also the camera isn't as good.

I'm a little surprised that you say that they are both expensive. The Galaxy Nexus should be cheap now.

But you can decide for yourself. Both are nice phones, but I personally would recommend the S III.
