Q. I am thinking about getting an e-reader. Being a student, I want to use it for textbooks, but I am not sure how that will work, specially considering the small screen sizes.
I want an e-reader that has a large, screen size, can open pdf's, and is able to show equations, and graphs, is there such a thing out there? In terms of screen size the only one that I found is Kindle DX.
I definitely want an e-ink, not a tablet.
Do you think that there will be much more variety of e-readers in 2011 and I should wait till then? or just go ahead and buy Kindle DX?

A. Forget Kindle, it's so last year. Get Nook (3G or Wi-Fi) or or Nook Color (Wi-Fi) from bn.com or any Barnes & Noble physical store or BestBuy or Walmart. 3G means the internet connection is included for free for the life of the device thus you can download a new book even when you're walking on the street. Wi-Fi means that you need to have access to wireless hotspot - one example would be any Barnes & Noble store that provide free Wi-Fi to Nook's or at your home. There's over a million of free public ebooks as well as over a million of ebooks that you need to pay for available through Barnes & Noble eBook store. Prices are generally much lower than for physical books.

- Nook allows to lend books for 2 weeks to friends or to your other devices that run B&N app. Barnes & Noble allows (when you walk in with the Nook to B&N store) to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.
- Nook Color is better as a color e-Reader than Kindle simply because it has color and Kindle is black and white. Content that greatly benefits from color - such as kids books and magazines - looks much better and sharper on Nook Color's screen.
- Nook Color is better as an e-Reader in general than iPad. It has a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight than iPad's. Its worth the money.You can put ebooks/notes/audio books on your kindle also Notes and annotations are very easy to make.Very easy to use with the PC and the Mac Kindle is very straight forward there's no need for additional software required for Kindle. Also supports you can also increase the text size which is again amazing.E-INK screen technology that donât glare in any light so no strain to eyes and less harmful. There are wide range of books on kindle many are free and other are cheaper at price than the actual books so yes I have saved a lot of money till now.
You dont have to carry now all those heavy actual books, kindle is so light weight which is carrying almost 1500 books within it. Since I travel a lot I really like the 3G Internet you can get the internet wherever you go. Whenever you are tired of reading you can also you Text-To-Speech with auto-page turning feature which is jst so relaxing. If the small size strains your eyes a lot than can also change the text-size. I must say Kindle is a small magic books really I cant live without it.
