Q. I just purchased an iPad mini and I can't quite seem to find a stylus that works with a screen protector. I'm a nursing student and I use it daily for note taking on my power points. I have a cheap one that works just ok but the rubber tip is super fat!! I have a 4 year that watches movies and play games on, so I have to have it to protect from her and frankly myself! Any suggestions!! I've purchased a Wacom bamboo stylus solo( works but I have to put lots of pressure), various generic capasative styli and some don't even pick up. I don't want to remove the protector as I can b rough on my things. No sarcasm please! Serious answers!! Thanx in advance.
A. iPads use capacitive styli, which means that it detects the difference in electrical capacitance and not the pressure applied, which means that the screen protector acts as an insulator. Screen protectors are a bad idea anyway. iPad mini has a gorilla glass which means it's scratch proof and very resistant to drops. Basically you would have to remove the protector if you want the stylus to work better. You won't be able to find one which works a lot better than bamboo stylus solo (which is one of the best).
If you want to find one anyway here's a list of styli for iPad: http://styli.org/
What is the best iPad stylus?
Q. I am buying an iPad stylus for my sister for Christmas, so I want to know which one is the best. Thanks :)
A. Good question, I just bought one to try out and they work great, and now my mother wants one for her iPad after trying my when I visited the other day. The one I bought is a Rocketfish, I got it at Best Buy for $15, in black (they come in lots of colors), and about the cheapest they run. I mean, its a conductive rubber nub on the end of a pen, I wouldn't pay more then $25 for one because they all seem to be the same to me, and the $15 one I have works great. I can't see where spending $50 on one would make it work better. That and unless she has used one and you know she likes it, I wouldn't spend too much in case she doesn't like using it. I use mine mostly for drawing because drawing become exponentially easier and faster with one, although they do work good for other tasks that don't involve typing.
Case for iPad 2 with stylus holder?
Q. I am looking for a case for the iPad 2 that has a place to secure a stylus as well. Any ideas of where to get this? I would prefer it in leather and have the ability to act as a stand as well if possible.
A. You can find lots of IPad 2 cases here,
