Does the iPad have USB ports?
Q. I'm looking at iPad to replace laptop does it have USB ports like laptop for downloading things onto it? If nit how do you import photos onto it from a camera?
A. more-or-less. The iPad doesn't have USB ports, but there's a device sold by apple you can use to connect a camera into it (through USB). Either way. The iPad is a bad laptop replacement. Think about buying a netbook instead/also.
ipad not charging on my computer usb?
Q. I noticed when I plug my ipad into my computer's usb port it says not charging. My computer isn't even a year old yet and it's a high end laptop. (Asus G73JH). My biggest question though I really wish to clarify, I read somewhere that some if not most usb ports (other then macs since apple appearently pushes a little more power to their ports) can't charge and power and ipad, but usb will power the ipad so it won't drain the battery. Is this true or are you draining the ipads battery when syncing an using it while connected to your computer? Thanks for clarifying this for me.
A. Charging the iPad: Hit or miss
If you're used to charging your phone, music player, or device in the USB port of your computer, take note. So far, I have been unable to charge our iPads in any USB port on a non-Apple Computer. Apple Tech Support has told me that the iPad is designed for the 10W AC adapter that comes with it, so if you want to use anything else, all bets are off.
I've tried charging our iPads in several places today. Here's what's worked and what hasn't.
Places where the iPad was able to charge (other than a wall outlet): Rear USB port on a 27-inch iMac desktop; USB port on a MacBook Pro laptop.
Here's where the iPad did not charge: Front and rear USB ports on a variety of Windows computers; USB port on an Apple wired keyboard attached to an iMac.
Hate it.
