Kindle Paperwhite book downloads and Wifi questions?

Q. I want to buy my mom a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas. She does not have Wifi, only cable internet.
If I buy the Paperwhite, download books on it, can she pull up the books she wants and read them without needing Wifi? I can download books from Amazon here at home and then send the Paperwhite to her. Anyway, I just need to know.
Thank you!

A. There're two ways to get books on the Kindle Paperwhite, if you don't have Wi-Fi. You can either buy and download books on your computer, then copy to the Kindle via USB cable. Or you can simply pay more to get the Kindle Paperwhite 3G model, which allows you to download books directly through the free 3G network, so you don't need to make it through WiFi.

Hope this helps.

Original Question

Can you download PDFs from pubmed on a Kindle Paperwhite?
Q. I know there is a built in internet browser. I was wondering if you could navigate to Pubmed's web site and download pdfs directly from there to a Kindle Paperwhite.

A. You can copy them to the kindle documents folder.

Original Question

Is the new kindle paperwhite worth buying?
Q. I have a Kindle 3 Keyboard, is the Kindle Paperwhite screen better for reading? It has touch screen and built in light over the screen, I think that impairs the reading capability of e ink even though the paperwhite has better resolution.

A. I think so. I went to this site where they did a comparison with the older models, and the Paperwhite screen really looks better. Most importantly, it's easier to read at night with the lights off. The built in light is equally dispersed throughout the screen and can be turned off and set to your preference. I already preordered the ad-free version from Amazon. Can't wait :)
