Q. i see that there are two flaws in making the case. one reason why is wouldn't the magnet part that connects to the ipad scratch the back of it? it is metal getting slapped on metal, so there may be a chance of it happening. the second reason is would the smart cover case still connect to the ipad if you have a zagg invisible shield on it?
A. I'm sure Apple has thought of that and made some inhouse tests.
For the first problem i wouldn't worry too much. Is not like you hit the side of the iPad 2 with the SmartCase. It snaps into place gently (look at the video in the link, with the presentation of the case).
And second, the Zagg shield only covers the screen, so it wouldn't interfere with the magnets. Apparently when you remove the smart case, or start rolling it, some magnets on the case get 'disconnected' from the magnets on the side of the iPad 2 (the other side) and this way the iPad 2 wakes up. So again, the Zagg shield won't be a problem.
Best screen protector for iPad 2?
Q. I got an iPad 2 the other day. What is the best protector for the screen? BestBuy seems to be pushing the Zagg Invisible Shield.
Is that a good purchase? What are your recommendations?
A. From everything I read after winning my original iPad, they don't need screen protectors. All it will do is cut down on the accuracy of the touchscreen. They're made to be very durable, so all you really need is a case for it and a good microfiber cleaning cloth (I got a ZooGue case for mine and I love it). I could be wrong, but you'll find YouTube videos of people trying to damage the screen of an iPad and it takes A LOT to scratch it.
Invisible Sheild Question?
Q. I bought the original invisble shield yesterday for my ipad mini and it was $25 just for the screen. I've looked online for reviews just to see if its a good product or not. But people complain about some orange peel but I don't really understand what they mean.
Will it leave the ipad mini screen defective if I decide to take it out later? Was it a good investment? Should I return it?
A. Invisible Shield is great. If it's applied properly you shouldn't have problems. I usually just paid extra to have the store I got it from apply it for me.
The "orange peel" is how people say the screen looks sort of orange peel-ish at certain angles (ie, slightly bumpy) but it's not really a big deal. I've used them on my phone and iPod Touch for a couple years now and they're great, plus you get a lifetime warranty so you can send it to Zagg for a replacement whenever if something happens to it.
