Q. I have a tmobile Samsung Galaxy S that I don't use anymore because I switched networks to Sprint. I currently have an iPhone and an LG Optimus on the Sprint network. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to use the Galaxy S on the Sprint network because I love that phone. I was figuring that since the LG Optimus and the Galaxy S are both Androids, something could be done.
I have heard of jailbreaking and rooting so, I was wondering if that would work. I really want to be able to use my Galaxy again so, if there is anything I can do let me know. Thanks!!
A. You can root your Samsung Galaxy S, here is a tutorials to walk you through, please note that rooting your phone will void your carrier warranty but this is reparable, here's the tutorials:

Note:
Rooting will not unlock you phone, here's a method (video) to unlock your Samsung Galaxy S I9000 for free: Samsung Galaxy S Free Unlock How-To http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g94eTJWW444.
Another method would be to contact you carrier and ask them to unlock ot for you, I think in some countries carrier give away unlock codes after a number of months of subscription.
How to root my Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000.Help please?
Q. I have baseband version ddjv4.
My android version is 2.3.3.
I want to update it to 4.2 so i have to root first.
A. I'd recommend reading the forums at XDA Developers, and I'd recommend using CyanogenMod 10.2 as the ROM to flash. It's based on Android 4.3 (the latest), and the CyanogenMod community is very supportive and helpful.
Here's a link to the forum for the GT-I9000 and the thread for CyanogenMod 10.2:

Hope that helps!
UPDATE: Actually, might be better to use CyanogenMod 10.1.x, which is more stable at the moment, and is based on Android 4.2.2:

A. Hi Rudra, the Samsung galaxy does support Vodafone live so no worries there, If you have Edge connection (Vodafone Mobile Connect) activated on your number it will it wont accept Vodafone Live as an access point. Just call your operator for a solution and they'll help you with the settings required
