Q. I have to choose one to get for my birthday soon. I want an Android device but at the same time I'm reading reviews that the Ipad is better. Also, is it true that Google Play has more free apps than iTunes/appstore.
A. I suggest Samsung Galaxy Tab. Personally I have a Samsung note 10.1 which I bought last year, it's with S pen which makes the operation fast and accurate. While the ipad's operation is totally based on the fingers, I don't like it, bcz my wrist joint and finger will be tired after long term operation.
Yes, the android apps have more choices. This is another reason you can choose Samsung Galaxy Tab.
However, if you feel the ipad will brings you a feeling of ''high class' which it's your goal, you could just go for it. Happy birthday to you in advance, I know a website may helpful to your new device of ipad/samsung tablet as below, it can get your device unique and make it significant to your birthday.
Ipad 2 or Samsung Galaxy tab.......?
Q. I planned to buy a tablet. But I couldn't select in between ipad 2 and Samsung galaxy tab 10.1. Which is better for the purpose of ebook reading, net browsing and documentary work?
A. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the lightest (1.25 lbs) of the big-screen tablets and is the thinnest (0.336 inches) overall. Like with the iPad, however, thinness comes at the expense of SD, USB, and HDMI ports: Tab and iPad have none. Choose the Galaxy Tab over iPad if you love its light weight and thinness but want an Android tablet rather than an iOS (iPad) tablet. Choose the Tab 10.1 if you (a) prefer its 1280x800 TFT display more than iPad 2's 1024x768 IPS display; (b) want a better rear camera (3 MP) than iPad 2's lousy 0.7 MP camera; (c) believe in Android's more open approach to app development and acquisition; or (d) want Flash, which does not work on iPad 2.
Otherwise, go with the IPad 2, which has a higher degree of fit-and-finish than its competition. Like iPhones vs other smart phones, iPods vs other MP3 players, or Macs vs PC's, iPads are widely regarded as being more refined and polished than other tablets. iPad also has a large and refined App Store (although Android Market is closing the gap).
Can I use the Samsung Galaxy Tab as a cell phone?
Q. If I insert my AT&T sim card into the Samsung galaxy, will i be able to make calls, send texts, etc from my number? My phone is broken and I really want a tablet, so i figured this would be a good compromise.
A. No the samsung Galaxy Tab is not a cell phone. You can't make and receive calls on this device. However thare are apps that will make the device receive and make calls such as Google Voice, Textfree that will give you a phone number so you can use this tablet to make calls.
From what I notice the Samsung Galaxy Tab is only available for Verizon and Sprint. Both Verizon and Sprint use CDMA network and does not use any sim card. So on the Galaxy Tab, it does not have a sim card holder inside. So with A T&T you need GSM network and a sim card. So The Samsung Galaxy Tab will not be work with your sim card.
