Q. Dear Friends,
I want to buy an android smartphone within the 20K budget. Within my budget i found samsung galaxy Ace (approx 15K) and I9003 Super Clear LCD(approx 20K).
There are so many phones available in the market within this price range i am confused which one is good value for money. My primary requirement is 2.5-4inch screen, good ram, good processor,3G, etc
Can someone suggest me the right phone who are using above mentioned devices.
You could also suggest other brand like HTC phone within this range.
Thanks
A. If your budget is 20k then you should definitely go for Samsung Galaxy SL-9003. Its a bit toned down version of Samsung Galaxy S 9000 and has a Super LCD in place of AMOLED screen. despite this major change Galaxy SL is still a value buy for 20k. On the other hand galaxy Ace is also a good phone but not comparable to Galaxy SL. Ace has a weaker processor of 800 MHz as compared to Sl`s 1 GHz and has a smaller screen of 3.5 inch as compared to Sl`s 4 inch. At 15k Ace is also a good smart phone. But, if you want to spend 20k for a phone then Galaxy SL is worth that much money. Infact, with a bit of market survey you can get Galaxy SL for as much as 18,500/-. For starters, you can compare the prices on www.mysmartprice.com. If you are ok with stretching your budget with 2-3k, then you can also check out HTC Desire.
Samsung galaxy player 5.0 or ipod touch 4g?
Q. Trying to decide which to get price is not a matter here
A. The Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 (4inch display $230) and 5.0 (5inch display $270) both have a host of hardware features that the iPod Touch 4g does not have:
- GPS (the real deal, not just WiFi-based. Apps like "CoPilot Live USA" ($10) have offline maps so you can use the Galaxy Player just like dedicated GPS while traveling.)
- FM tuner (great for WiFi dead spots)
- Vibration feedback for UI, alarms, and games
- 3 silent capacitive touch controls on display (settings, home, and back)
- microSD card slot (up to 32GB card + built-in 8GB = 40GB max at any time. Be sure to buy the highest speed class (10 is highest right now) microSD card for snappy read/write speed.)
- LED camera flash (5.0 model only)
- 3.2MP back camera (iPod Touch has 0.7MP back camera)
- 1GHz Hummingbird processor
So, as for hardware features, the Galaxy Players 4.0 and 5.0 are far ahead of the iPod Touch.
However, the iPod Touch's 3.5inch 960Ã640 display has a higher resolution than the Galaxy Players' 800x480 Super TFT "SuperClear" LCD display. I own a Galaxy Player 4.0 and an iPod Touch 4g. If you bring the screens right up to your eyes, the iPod's display looks better, but if you view them from a normal distance, the Galaxy Players' display has darker black levels, can get much much brighter, and has a wider viewing angle. I prefer the Galaxy Player for normal arm's length viewing.
The Galaxy Players have a plastic back plate and are thicker than the iPod Touch 4g. However, they are surprisingly light for such comparatively large devices. The Galaxy 4.0 is quite pocketable, but I have not personally tried to pocket a Galaxy 5.0.
You can directly connect an iPod Touch 4g via a 3rd party cable to the HDMI, RCA, or component video inputs of a TV. This is known as MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link). The Galaxy Players do not support MHL, so no cable can export video from the device via the microUSB port. However, the Galaxy Players 4.0 and 5.0 do support AllShare (a Samsung customized layer on the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) industry standard), which allows them to wirelessly transmit audio+video to AllShare/DLNA compatible TVs. The iPod's major advantage is access to iTunes. For Android devices, one has the Android Market, Samsung App, Amazon App Store, etc. You will probably be able to find the same or an equivalent Android app that you could find on iTunes. However, it's the shopping and dealing with multiple vendor portals (and even in-app purchases for app upgrades) that those used to the ease and comfort of iTunes may find disconcerting. Android portals for apps and content (books, music, video) are getting better every year, but no one Android portal is currently in the same class as Apple's iTunes. That is just something you would have to live with if you go with Android.
I can't speak to the Galaxy Players' durability, etc. because they have only been released in the US since Oct/16/2011. However, in my opinion, they offer superior hardware features (listed above) and, once you get all of your favorite apps and settings lined up, you will likely have a better day to day experience. However, if the notion of shopping around for Android apps you want and not being able to get all of your content in one place doesn't appeal to you, then I would recommend sticking
with Apple's iPod Touch 4g. The iPod Touch's display may be smaller and its hardware features in need of an upgrade (no luck this year), but it is a rock solid device with a the one-stop-shopping iTunes juggernaut at your fingertips.
Good luck, and happy shopping :)
