Q. I'm not sure what caused mine to break, but it's definitely broken. There are white patches, lines, and other bad signs all across the screen. It was in my backpack, so I'm not sure whether abuse caused it, or a defect arose. I only got it about six weeks ago, so it's still well within the year warranty, but would Amazon still help me?
A. The Amazon warranty, like all others, only covers defects in manufacture and protects the buyer from a poorly made product. It does not guarantee you a replacement product if yours gets damaged. If you didn't have it in a protective case and it was in your backpack (along with books, keys, cellphones, etc.) then the Kindle was damaged by accident or user error. Sounds like the glass face was crunched or impacted.
Your car manufacturer wouldn't replace or repair your car after an accident, right?
Now, you can contact Amazon to find out about repair costs, or if they'd let you pay for a refubished replacement. Good luck.
The First Kindle Warranty?
Q. On my friend's kindle (which is like a year and a half old) something hit the screen and only half of it works now. Anyone know what the warranty on the original kindle is or if they'll replace it for her? Thanks so much!
A. Original warranty is ONLY 12 months, unless an extended warranty was bought.
It will NOT help a broken screen from something hitting it or dropping it. So if the reason the screen is not working is due to dropping or something being dropped or thrown into the KF, it will NOT be covered, and your friend will be out of luck in either of those cases.
Warranty will only cover a hardware or software defect, not anything considered to be user abuse (broken screens, broken cases, rubbed off paint, stress from being crammed into a book bags with a lot of junk, etc... etc.
Kindle Fire warranty?
Q. My Kindle Fire is about two years old and it has recently stopped charging. It's not the charger that is the problem but the Kindle itself. (I have tested and bought several new chargers.) I have heard that Amazon will replace my Kindle Fire even though the warranty has expired. I need some help asking for assistance when I call. How do I receive a new Kindle? What will they ask me in order to receive a new one? Please help!
A. Why would they replace a Kindle that was not under warranty? The only reason I could think of would be if they had a issue that was recalled issue. You can call them but I would not hold out much hope.I think who ever told you that was pulling your leg.
