Q. I am looking at the kindle keyboard because its small and affordable
My question though is, how do I buy kindle ebooks on amazon and get them to the kindle keyboard? I've never owned a kindle before.
A. There are two ways...
If you have wifi available, you can browse the Kindle Store, and download samples and full books over that. If not, you can use a computer to browse the store and download books, and then plug your Kindle into the computer via a USB cable to transfer them. Depending on which Kindle you get, you may also have the option of using the 3G network for all of this.
You can mix these options - I use my computer for browsing and getting samples, but my Kindle downloads the samples over wifi. If I read a sample and like it, there's a "buy" button at the end of the sample, so I press that and my Kindle downloads the book over wifi.
For this to work, you need to have a credit or debit card on file with Amazon (you can also use gift vouchers) and your Kindle needs to be registered to your Amazon account. If that sounds too Big Brother-ish, some other retailers also offer books in Kindle formats, but you need to download and transfer them yourself, which is less convenient.
Can I get a kindle with Financial Aid?
Q. I'm trying to find out if you can get a book voucher for a kindle for college through financial aid. I figure it'll be a lot cheaper to get my books on a kindle and I can't find anywhere if I can or can't.
I don't get my excess rewards check until next month, my classes started this week. I'm trying to get my books before class on Tuesday and was wondering if this was an option.
A. No you can't do that. Also you cannot get most college textbooks for kindle (or any other e-reader). And when they are offered on kindle, they aren't always much cheaper.
I need help finding some Christmas ideas?
Q. I need to know what gifts to buy for my dad and grandparents. My budget is quite low, considering I'm only 14 and I have no job and not much money! Maybe, $15 at the most.
My dad likes reading on his kindle and he loves soccer. He's a total geek and works as an electrical engineer (computers, cameras, etc)
My grandpa loves writing. He's written a few books and writes for magazines. He also loves watching baseball and football.
My grandma likes to cook, but she already knows every recipe out there! She also likes to knit and crochet.
Any ideas would be awesome!
A. Dad: I don't know if you can get Kindle vouchers or not...um, if he's an electrical geek he might have in iPhone/iPod touch. If so you could buy him a case or an accessory for a laptop he might have :)
Grandpa: I like writing too and appreciate it when people buy me pretty pens, paper and things like that. If he likes baseball and football maybe you could buy him the autograph of a minor football/baseball star
Grandma: Well, if she already knows every recipe, maybe you can take another spin on that and buy her a cute spatula or something. you could buy her a book of knitting and crochet patterns, maybe?
I hope I helped somewhat :) It's my goal to get to the leaderboards under Christmas on Y!A.
