Q. I am not a fan of the ipad but am interested to see what people think is the best tablet on the market NOT including the ipad (which i think is priced too high and popular due to consumer hype.) I am in the market for one but got overwhelmed when I went to the store. What tablet has the best features, memory, screen size etc. At the store I played with the samsung tablet and blackberry but I don't know much about either. thanks
A. Apple achieves high levels of fit and finish on their products, but, yes, they're relatively expensive. It sounds like you'd prefer the more open approach of Android tablets, which also happen to have much better cameras than the iPad. That's certainly fine. Here are some other considerations...
If cellular service is important, you may want to consider which tablet your favorite carrier supports:
Verizon:Galaxy Tab 10.1, iPad 2, Xoom, and Galaxy Tab
T-Mobile:G-Slate, Streak 7, and Galaxy Tab
Sprint:PlayBook and Galaxy Tab
AT&T:iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab
None:Eee Slate, Slate 500, TouchPad, Thrive, Eee Pad TF101, Iconia Tab A500, Archos 101, Archos 70, and NOOK Color
For overall value, the ASUS Eee Transformer (TF101) has surprisingly good specs for under $400: Android 3.1, 10.1 inch 1280x800 IPS (like iPad, but bigger and higher resolution) display, up to 9 hours of battery life (16 hours if optional dock added), optional ability to dock with keyboard, 1 GHz Tegra 250 ARM CPU with 1 GB RAM, good array of ports (mini HDMI, SD, micro SD), preloaded Polaris Office 3.0 for editing documents (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files. Note, though, no 3G (however people report success in tethering it to smart phones).
If Windows OS compatibility or a digitizer pen is important to you, go for the ASUS Eee Slate or HP Slate 500. The biggest differences between those are that the ASUS has a better display (12.1 inch AFFS 1280x800) than the HP (8.9 inch TFT 1024x600) but is larger, heavier and more expensive.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the thinnest (0.336 inches) and lightest (1.25 lbs) the big-screen (greater than 9 inch) tablets.
If high-end video recording is important to you, consider the LG G-Slate or BlackBerry PlayBook, both of which can record at 1080p. The still cameras on those devices are pretty good too: G-Slate has Dual 5 MP rear cameras and a 2MP front camera; PlayBook has 5MP front and 3MP rear cameras.
Motorola Xoom: Heavier and thicker than both the iPad or Galaxy Tab, the Xoom's advantage is that it has HDMI out and micro USB ports. It also has a 5MP rear camera compared to Tab's 3MP and iPad's lousy 0.7MP.
How to connect a ps3 controller to a samsung galaxy tab 10.1?
Q. I wanna use onlive to the full but i need to connect a controller, how can i do this? Btw i do not want to root my device to do this :-!
A. Simple but tricky, I need 10 point :)
1. Download Sixaxis Controller from the Android Market.
2. Now download and install SixaxisPairTool. It is a PC utility that will be used to pair the PS3 controller with your phone.
Alternatively, you can also use âMotionInJoyâ for Windows or use a utility called âsixpairâ for Linux.
3. Connect the PS3 controller to your PC with its mini-USB cable, and switch on the power with the PS button.
4. Start the SixaxisPairTool program in your PC. It will install the required drivers for the PS3 controller.
5. Turn on bluetooth on your Android phone.
6. Go to the Sixaxis Controller app in your phone and tap on the âStartâ button for bluetooth server to initiate.If you get an âError: Missing required protocolâ message, your device is not supported.
7. Now go to âSettings > Language & keyboardâ in your phone and check âSixaxis Controllerâ box.
8. If the connection is established in Sixaxis Controller app, you should now pair your controller with your Android phone.
9. Your phoneâs bluetooth address is shown at the bottom of the main Sixaxis Controller app window and will look something like 1A:3C:13:00:21:C2 â Enter this number in the âChange Master:â text box in the Sixaxis Pair Tool program in your PC and click âUpdateâ.
This process only needs to be done the first time a controller is used on a different device, so if you only use the controller on one phone, you will only need to do it once.
10. Your âCurrent Masterâ and âChange Masterâ values should be the same now. This means your PS3 controller and phone are paired!
11. On your phone, in the Sixaxis Controller app, tab the âChange Input Methodâ button and select âSixaxis Controllerâ.
12. Unplug the PS3 controller from the mini-USB cable and the blinking red lights on the controller should stop now. Now press the PS button on the controller to switch it on.
13. A single red light will stay on now and on your phone in the Sixaxis Controller app, you will see âClient connected: 1â³.
14. Thatâs it! The PS3 controller is now connected and works with your Android device!
15. To change button functions or map different keys, go to âPreferencesâ of the Sixaxis Controller app on your phone.

Is an ipad helpful or good for college?
Q. Okay so I got an ipad as a gift from someone and I was wondering weather I should keep it and use it for college or not? Like is the ipad helpful to take notes or record lectures? I already have a MacBook Pro but its heavy and I don't want to carry my laptop and books every where I go, especially since I have to walk a lot on campus.
Also it would great to know what type of ipad, one would recommend, a 32 gb or a 64 gb for college

A. During the semester I usually go to school 2 days a week for 12 hours each days for all 5 classes. During those 12 hours I always had to carry around my giant 11ish pound laptop, textbooks, notebooks, a binder, and some other stuff. I had neck problems and lower back problems from carrying it all around, so I know how you feel :/ in my opinion, the ipad isnt great for school. My friend let me try his for a week last semester and it wasnt good for taking notes at all or recording. I got a samsung galaxy note 10.1 instead. I use it to do almost everything I used to do on my comuter except for heavy gaming and coding (im a computer science major). When I need to do any coding at school, I just use a school computer now. I do all my internet research and movie watching on my tablet. The tablet's also replaced all my notebooks. Taking notes is super easy, much better than with the ipad and all my notes are easily organized in separate folders. I can take notes quickly during class, switching between colors as I need to, highlighting and I can record my professors while im taking notes. The sound quality is pretty good, but I sit up in the front whenevre I can, so I dont know how itll sound if recorded from the back. I can try though during a class day when I dont need to take notes though. Having my notes in my tablet makes it a lot easier to just send people my notes to their phone or laptop or whatever instead of letting someone borrow one of my notebooks and not getting it back when I need it. Hate that >:( both thr recordings and having my notes saved digitally add a lot of convenience to study groups too.
One if my professors requires us to watch a video with each chapter in the book and then gives us an open note quiz at the end of that chapter. My tablet has really good split screen abilities so I can watch the video on one side and take notes on the other side and put it straight into my folder afterward. My professor does require me to print out my notes for the quizzes, but I have a bluetooth printer and the tablet connects to it without any problems. I put all my textbooks on it too, so now I really just have my tablet, one spiral notebook with a pen for ancient professors who think tablets are evil :P and my small backpack purse which my tablet fits in. 50 pound of crap became like 3 pounds lol. So I do definitely suggest using a tablet, but I dont think the ipad is best for students. Its a great tablet for lots of other stuff, but for students, im really a fan of the note 10.1.
I will say that I think the ipad has better screen resolution. In fact, I think the ipads the best on the market right now for that, but the note 10.1 is pretty good as well. The only thing I dont like about the note 10.1 is how reflective the screen is. No more than other basic tablets I guess, but for something with so many other abilities that samsung brags about, you think they would have sprung for a non refelctive screen :/ anyway, I got mine refurbished from walmarts website for $270, $295 with tax I think. Almost half the normal price. You could probably sell the ipad and get the note 10.1 and have a good $150 or more after. Oh, I never tried the ipads camera, but both cameras have pretty good resolution on the note 10.1. I skype with it all the time lol. The tablets got really great photo shop stuff too, especially with samsungs premium suite upgrade ( comes free with the tablet)
Anyway, you should look into it. Made me happier lol. Be sure to research with being a student in mind though. To be honest, if I werent a student then I might have considered the ipad instead. The screen resolutions great, its got great games, and there are more things compatible with apple products and ios than samsung products and android but the note taking, recording, organization, and expandable memory was really important to me so I went with the note 10.1 :/ Anyway, Happy researching and good luck!!
