Q. typing on ipad is a pain in the ass compared to a real laptop. why don't they just get a superlight laptop to use at the airport or where they need to use it. when they put the ipad cover in a vertical position it looks just like a laptop without the keypad..

Q. My mom says that all ipads are are small laptops with no keypads. How can i tell her what they do? I don't have one so i am not sure of what they can all do. A. iPad (and other tablets) are media consumption devices; meaning they were not designed to really be used the same way a laptop can be used. And no they are not small laptops with no keyboards.
Microsoft Surface 2 or iPad?
Q. I am college student looking to buy a tablet for school purposes (in-class note taking, word processing, research, etc.) and recreational (social media, Netflix, games, etc.). I am torn between the recently released Surface 2 and the iPad. The iPad has a great variety of apps including great note taking apps but the Surface comes with Microsoft Office which is a huge bonus. Help?
A. If you want the ability to add a USB drive for keeping your papers and assignments, you want continue using Windows or Microsoft Office, and an attached keypad, then the Surface is your best choice. If you don't want these and want to use the 10's of thousands of apps, or already in the iOS ecosystem (currently have an iPad or iPhone) then go with the iPad. Students have a lot of papers to write and you can't beat the MS Office suite. By the way, MS is greatly improving the number of apps and many programs such as Skype, Evernote, etc. are in both stores.
